Description of a thing:

Right outside my door whenever I come back home I see two dogs running up to me so excited to see me. One of him is called Jerry and the other one is called Jason. I am thinking about all the memories I have had with them all those fun times. They were found at an adoption center and they were surrounded around other different types of dogs. They are medium sized schnoodles, one is cream colored and the other one is gray. They have been living together for many years. All I hear all day is either they bark or they whine when they miss their owner.  Sometimes I wonder how easy their life can be. All they do is either sleep all day, eat and that’s pretty much it, and they repeat that almost every single day. What is it that dogs can see that we can’t see about this world is what I wonder. Do they see this place colorful like us or is it black and white from their point of view? I get so happy when I see them because they bring joy to us, when you see them wagging their tail, or they want to play with you. Dogs really do be important in this world because they are everywhere around the world. Many people train them to be helpful to those who can’t see and other people with disabilities. Or they are security dogs at the airport, they are with cops.  Though sometimes they don’t be treated properly like they are supposed to. Back when I went to Ecuador I used to see and observe so many dogs on the streets and I would get emotional about it. Seeing how they got no home and they were searching for food from the streets. Thinking if their a possible way I can help them to give them a home but its quite impossible because their is many. So I wonder to myself how some of them get lucky when the right people adopt them because they get treated fairly. Sometimes they are too good for this world. Dogs’ life span is pretty short compared to us humans. However old they are, you multiply it by seven and that’s the age that they have. My dogs have lived a long life and they are still healthy. Hopefully they are able to keep on living more lives to have more memories with them. 

Response to Orwell, Tan, Laferriere

The article that I chose to write about is called Mother Tongue by Amy Tan. I picked this because it captivated my attention how she was telling her story about how difficult it was for her to speak the English that she knows. She was having a hard time accepting herself because she didn’t know how to communicate well. When she is talking to her mother she realizes it’s different from what she talks about in school. Now the way she wrote this essay was quite interesting because it felt as if she was showing the emotions that she felt about her journey that she went through. In the essay she states how “Lately, I’ve been giving more thought to the kind of English my mother speaks. Like others, I have described it to people as ‘broken” or “fractured” English.” She starts saying how many people have made fun of her mother for how she talked because it was unclear. She tried to help her and started writing books about how she had improved. After that, she started practicing and wanted to learn more about her mother’s origins and started accepting herself. The essay states, “I wanted to capture what language ability tests can never reveal: her intent, her passion, her imagery, the rhythms of her speech and the nature of her thoughts”. Amy Tan started accepting her background and she wanted to tell her story to other people like her who are struggling to learn or speak English. 

Writing response to “How beauty is making scientists rethink evolution”

The essay is called “How Beauty is Making Scientists Rethink Evolution”. They start saying how there is so much beauty in nature that not a lot of us know. They help us explain natural selection and how birds reproduce among themselves. Charles Darwin made a theory about natural selection and how organisms can survive by reproducing, but he started saying that female birds mate only with male birds that they find attractive. His theory was not supported but after that nowadays, biologists kept expanding on his theory about beauty. This man called Prum who was a writer who wrote a book about the “Evolution of Beauty” was walking and he saw this bird that caught his attention he believed that females were evolving on their mating preference and how it deals with behavior as well. He believed that birds find themselves beautiful which makes them able to find others, he ignores the origins of any type of anima. Many scientists kept going through this research and adopted they all have different definitions of beauty Cummings stated that beauty for males and females is based on appearance because she would see how men’s scale would light up and bring the female attention, they find unique qualities of its environment. In the test, it states, “Most of the scientists I spoke with said that the old dichotomy between adaptive adornment and arbitrary beauty, between “good genes” and Fisherian selection, is being replaced with a modern conceptual synthesis that emphasizes multiplicity”. Up to this day, many scientists come up with with many different theories. 

My favorite writing assignment:

One of my favorite type of writing i have done is last semester of 2023 when i was taking English composition and  i had to write a narrative story, This assignment that i had made me think and reflect about some personal events that has happen in my life that either shaped us the way we are or benefited us, and then i had to write it to share it with people that can relate to this. At first when i had to write it out i had to figure out how was to that i was going to structure it, and how was it that i was going to get to the audience by the use of tone, or rhetorical analysis. This is actually a meaningful topic to talk about because there is many author who write about their life too share with the whole world we are able to see how was it that they was feeling at that movement by picturing it. Writing in general should be something that comes from our thoughts and wished to show, so it would be interesting for other people to read. Also many people can learn from other people mistakes when reading their work because we can see what type of life they be having when they explain. 

One of my least writing probably would be to write a rhetorical analysis this is because you Have to be able to interpret what you going to be  writing about, it can be either reading a article and analyzing it by seeing what type of rhetorical devices they used to grab the audience with the use of ethos, logos, pathos. Then you had to further expand explains why is it that we think it’s those devices, also coming up with a thesis statement. Writing. In general takes up a lot of effort and thinking to be able to develop one and editing it to make sure all grammar is properly written.
